The first area landscaped with California native plants welcomes visitors to Central Park and the Kohl Pumphouse surrounding the 9th Avenue entrance sign.
A second native plant area has been added at the back edge of the Central Park Japanese garden, across from the pony shed and senior housing. Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Spangler (right), assisted by greenhouse volunteer Elaine Clemons, are shown planting Salvia spathacea (Hummingbird Sage). Other new plants added to this area include Heuchera (Coral bells), Trichostema lanatum (Wooly Blue Curls), Salvia clevelandii, Iris douglasiana, and Scrophularia atrata (Bee plant). Many of these plants are available for sale in our CA Native plant section at our nursery.
