The San Mateo Arboretum Society Scholarship Program was created to provide financial support to individuals who have been accepted in University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) San Mateo and San Francisco Counties Master Gardener Program and plan to become certified Master Gardeners in an effort to promote and teach best garden practices and how to practice environmentally sustainable management.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicant

 To be eligible for a scholarship from this program, an applicant must generally meet three certain criteria:
  1. Your acceptance into the San Mateo and San Francisco Counties Master Gardener Program must be approved for the current year, in writing, from the San Mateo and San Francisco Counties Master Gardener Program coordinator.
  2. Volunteer at the San Mateo Arboretum Society at least 25 hours after completing your Master Gardener training. Volunteer opportunities include the greenhouse, rose garden, future SMAS garden tours.
  3. (3)You must be a resident of either San Mateo or San Francisco Counties.

Primary Considerations

Applications are considered based on financial need and on a first come, first served basis. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications Available

 Scholarships are limited to 3 partial scholarships per training program (Sept 1-Nov 20). Applicants awarded scholarship will receive full tuition ($???) for the Master Gardener training program.

Transferability

Scholarships may not be applied to another course/program or used by another individual.
